When 24 hours expire

The authority’s confirmed receipt of the application or report is required. Enter the time in Kyiv time; dispatch without proof of receipt is not a reliable starting point.

Check the mark on the copy, ticket, incoming reference number, or delivery confirmation.

Without the exact time, a 24-hour deadline can only be determined approximately.

Preliminary time reference

Enter the confirmed time of receipt to calculate 24 continuous hours.

What exactly the calculator deducts

Part one of Article 214 of the Criminal Procedure Code requires an investigator, inquiry officer, or prosecutor to enter information in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations immediately, but no later than 24 hours after receiving a report or application. A reliable calculation requires proof of when the relevant authority accepted it.

After the information is entered, the applicant is provided with an extract from the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations within a separate 24-hour period. If there is no entry, the next step is a complaint to the investigating judge; check its 10-day period separately.

Methodology

Calculation methodology

Methodology

  1. We identify the confirmed date and time the authority received the application in the Europe/Kyiv time zone.
  2. For a repeated hour during the autumn clock change, specify which occurrence is confirmed; the nonexistent springtime hour is not accepted.
  3. Add exactly 24 hours in absolute time and show the local end time.
  4. We compare the result with the current time; legal exceptions and evidence are not automatically assessed.
Example

Example for Kyiv

The applicant filed a written report of suspected fraud with the police authority in Kyiv and received an acknowledgment of receipt on September 14, 2026 at 15:20.

  • Confirmed receipt: 14.09.2026 at 15:20
  • Interval: 24 consecutive hours

Estimated ERDR entry date: September 15, 2026 at 15:20 Kyiv time.

A date on an application without proof of actual receipt does not establish when the interval began; separate rules apply to the extract and complaint.

Documents

What to check in the documents

  • A copy of the application describing the event, its date, and the list of attachments.
  • A stamp, ticket, incoming reference number, or postal or electronic confirmation of actual receipt showing the time.
  • An extract from the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations or correspondence about its provision, if available.
  • Information about the authority that received the report, for further clarification of the route.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

From what point should the 24 hours be counted?

From the authority’s confirmed receipt of an application or report of a possible criminal offense. Keep proof of the date, time, and contents submitted.

Are night hours, Saturday, and Sunday included?

Yes. The calculator adds 24 continuous hours, not one working day. The Article 615 Criminal Procedure Code exception must be assessed separately.

When must an extract from the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations be provided?

Under Article 214 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the applicant is given an extract within 24 hours after the information is entered. This is a separate interval, not extra time to enter the information itself.

What to do if 24 hours have passed?

Check proof of acceptance and whether an extract is available. Failure to enter information may be appealed to an investigating judge under Article 303 of the Criminal Procedure Code; check the separate complaint deadline in another calculator.

Does martial law suspend entry into the ERDR?

Not automatically. The special procedure under Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code is tied, among other things, to the lack of technical access to the register. The reason for the delay must be checked against the actual circumstances.

Need to check the application and confirmation?

For cases in Kyiv or Kyiv Region, a lawyer can check the notice, proof of receipt, and the proper next procedural step.

  • the calculator result can serve as a reference for a conversation
  • documents, deadlines, or contract terms may change the conclusion
  • briefly describe the circumstances in the form if needed
