What exactly the calculator calculates
Article 625 of the Civil Code of Ukraine provides for 3% annual interest on the overdue amount unless the contract or law sets a different rate.
This is not a complete calculation of all claims. Inflation losses, penalties, court fees, legal assistance costs, or contractual interest may be calculated separately.
Calculation methodology
Methodology for calculating 3% annual interest
- Use the principal overdue amount, excluding penalties, fines and legal costs.
- We identify the first day of delay and the last day of the calculation period.
- Multiply the debt by 3% annual interest and prorate it by the number of calendar days overdue.
- We separately exclude inflation losses, contractual interest and other possible payments from this calculation.
Calculation example
The contractual debt in Kyiv is UAH 50,000, overdue for 120 calendar days.
- Principal debt: UAH 50,000
- Delay period: 120 days
Estimated 3% per annum: UAH 493.15; total with debt: UAH 50,493.15.
This is only 3% annual interest. Inflation losses, penalties, and court costs are calculated separately.

- Payment deadline and evidence that the debtor was required to perform the monetary obligation.

Frequently asked questions
Are inflation losses taken into account?
No. This calculator computes only 3% annual interest. Inflation losses require a separate calculation using official inflation indices.
Which date should I enter as the start of the delay?
The usual starting point is the day after the payment deadline. The exact date, however, depends on the contract, invoice, receipt, or court decision.
Can the result be used in a claim?
You can use this as a draft, but before filing you should check the period, formula, evidence of the debt, and possible objections by the debtor.
Is this calculation suitable for a bank loan?
Not always. Separate rules may apply to loans and consumer agreements, so the documents need to be checked.
