Night-work supplement
Night-work premium calculator
Did you work in an office, logistics center, or security service in Kyiv or the region between 22:00 and 06:00? Enter the confirmed hourly tariff rate, night hours, applicable percentage, and premium already accrued. The result shows the gross premium only, not all pay for the shift.

Preliminary night-work premium calculation
Use the established hourly rate and the hours shown in the time sheet as falling between 22:00 and 06:00. The minimum is 20%; enter a higher percentage only if documented.
Do not enter a monthly salary. A confirmed hourly rate from the contract, pay scale, or accounting calculation is required.
Enter only working time between 22:00 and 06:00 shown on the timesheet; fractions of an hour may be entered to 0.01.
Enter only the additional payment for those same night hours, not the entire shift pay. If there is no separate accrual, leave 0.

How the night work surcharge is determined
Article 54 of the Labour Code defines night hours as 22:00–06:00. Article 108 requires increased pay for each hour worked then: the rate is set by a general, industry, territorial, or collective agreement, but cannot be less than 20% of the tariff rate for each night hour.
The night-work supplement is a separate payment in addition to regular pay for hours worked. Under Article 3-1 of the Law “On Remuneration of Labor,” night-work supplements are excluded from wages for the purpose of meeting the minimum wage, and Article 30 requires employers to inform employees of the components of accrued wages.
Night work and overtime are different grounds. If the same hours are also overtime, the rule under Article 106 of the Labour Code must be checked separately. Articles 8 and 11 of Law No. 2136-IX do not cancel the guarantee of night-work pay; suspension of a specific collective agreement provision requires mutual consent and proper documentary evidence.
Calculation methodology
Preliminary calculation methodology
- Use the hourly tariff rate before taxes shown in the documents; do not substitute the monthly salary.
- Use the schedule and timesheet to determine the hours actually worked between 22:00 and 06:00.
- We check the applicable percentage: at least 20%; a higher rate must come from a current agreement, collective agreement, or local document.
- Multiply the rate by night hours and the percentage without intermediate rounding, then round the supplement due to the nearest kopeck.
- Subtract only the additional amount before tax already accrued for the same hours and show a possible shortfall, but never below zero.
- We show ordinary pay and the amount including the additional payment separately, only as context for checking the payslip.
Example of a night shift at a logistics center
An employee of a logistics center in Kyiv Oblast has a confirmed hourly rate of UAH 150.25. The timesheet records 8.5 night hours, the minimum 20% premium applies, and UAH 200 gross in night-work premium has already been accrued on the payslip.
- Hourly tariff rate: UAH 150.25
- Confirmed night hours: 8.5
- Supplement amount: 20%
- Supplement already accrued: UAH 200
Proper supplement: 150.25 × 8.5 × 20% = UAH 255.43. Regular pay for these hours is UAH 1,277.13, the total including the supplement is UAH 1,532.55, and the possible gross supplement underpayment is UAH 55.43.
The example does not determine the rate, night hours, or validity of an increased percentage. A demand should refer to documents for the same period, not arithmetic in isolation from the timesheet.

Frequently asked questions
Which hours count as night hours?
Under Article 54 of the Labour Code, night time runs from 22:00 to 06:00. If a shift falls within this period only in part, the additional payment is based on confirmed hours within it, not the entire shift.
Is entering 20% always enough?
20% of the tariff rate for each night hour is the minimum under Article 108 of the Labour Code. Check the general, sectoral, territorial and collective agreements and local documents: the rate applicable to you may be higher.
Can a monthly salary be entered?
No. The formula requires a confirmed hourly rate. If the employee is salaried, request the working-time standard and the accounting department’s hourly-rate calculation for the relevant period.
Is regular pay included in the result as part of the supplement?
No. The proper supplement is a separate primary result. Regular pay for night hours and the total are shown only to provide context and do not mean that the full amount must be accrued again.
What to do if night hours are also overtime?
Do not substitute one ground for another. The night-work supplement is checked under Article 108, while payment for confirmed overtime is checked separately under Article 106 of the Labour Code, taking the timekeeping system into account.
Does martial law allow the employer not to pay the night-work supplement?
No, there is no general suspension of the Article 108 Labour Code guarantee. If the employer relies on suspension of a collective agreement provision, check mutual consent and the specific document; even then, the statutory minimum must be met.

Do the night hours or percentage differ?
For an employee at a Kyiv office, logistics company, or security service, we can compare the schedule, timesheet, rate documents, and payslip to distinguish the night-work supplement due from the amount already accrued.
